Letters #5
"Hey Pastor David... why are you so talking so energetically about God's holy jealousy for us?"
Simply because you and I cannot understand the 2nd letter Paul the coach writes to the Christians in Corinth without realizing something of the jealousy of God for us.
In Letters #4, we heard in his first letter Paul calling out the Corinthian church. God had endowed them with everything they needed to be a winning church defeating the gates and power of hell in people's lives. But they were bringing into their church body the sinful stuff of the world: polarizing divisions over secondary matters, their moral disorders (especially the sexual misuse of their bodies), and their doctrinal doubt over the resurrection. Paul's coaching was forthright - You'll never be a winning church without dealing honestly and in repentance with the stuff and practices you've brought in from the world.
Now... months later, Paul writes a second letter, an open-hearted communication about this:
You can be a powerful, fruitful, winning church if you singularly love the God who is jealous over you.
In this sermon, Pastor David shares Paul's explanation for how we can singularly LOVE the God who is jealous for us, in at least 5 ways.
